I've been told. But the truth is, we're not immune to stress, anxiety, and depression. In fact, our age group is particularly vulnerable to mental health issues due to academic pressure, social media scrutiny, and societal expectations.</p><p><br></p><p>Despite this, mental health remains a taboo topic in many Nigerian homes. Parents often dismiss our concerns, attributing them to "drama" or "hormones." But we're not just being dramatic; we're struggling to cope with the demands of modern life.</p><p><br></p><p>It's time for Nigerian parents to take our mental health seriously. We need open and honest conversations about our emotions, struggles, and fears. We need support systems that acknowledge our experiences and provide us with the tools to manage our mental well-being.</p><p><br></p><p>By ignoring our mental health needs, parents risk pushing us further into silence and suffering. It's time to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a safe space for Nigerian teenagers to express themselves without fear of judgment.</p>
